Proverbs 1:5-6 AMPC
The wise also will hear and increase in learning, and the person of understanding will acquire skill and attain to sound counsel [so that he may be able to steer his course rightly]–[Prov. 9:9.] That people may understand a proverb and a figure of speech or an enigma with its interpretation, and the words of the wise and their dark sayings or riddles.
Four things wise people do-
1. They hear.
If wise people hear, it means unwise people no dey hear word (only pidgin can drive this home).
Ladies, a word is always enough for the wise. So let a word be enough. Let repetitions be for you, for the establishment of what has already settled in your heart.
Hear and hear well.
If you must, pray against every dullness of hearing. And let your ability to hear GOD and those that GOD has placed over you be quickened as they speak to you on any and every matter. Hear to do.
2. They increase in learning.
Unwise people think that because they know some, they already know enough and so they don’t need to know more. But in the day and age that we live in, where knowledge is updated per hour/sec, you need to constantly be in the know (in knowledge areas that is relevant to you) else you stand the risk of being outdated.
Learning must never end for you, be it spiritual or intellectual.
Keep increasing in learning.
In the kingdom, to see is to know. And Knowledge puts you ahead and makes you powerful.
3. They acquire skill
You can be more skilful at everything you do. Hone your talents, gifts and abilities. Skillfulness is what distinguishes the talented. Talent alone is never enough.
4. They seek for and follow wise counsel.
I’ve tried to figure things out on my own, and I’ve also tried seeking for counsel in different situations, I can tell you that counsel is better! It’s a lifesaver! Howbeit it takes humility. If you find it difficult or unnecessary to seek for counsel, you may have to deal with pride. Asking questions doesn’t reduce you, it makes you better, far more than you can imagine. There are certain things God will not tell you directly because He has put the knowledge you need in someone you are already connected to.
You don’t have to keep struggling, seek wise counsel today.
